Wanze Eduards and Hugo Jabini: 2009 Goldman Prize winners, Suriname
I found this video fascinating and another example of how having an identity and common set of values makes for a more successful community. This video is about the African maroon community of Saramaka people in Suriname fighting for their land rights and the continuation of their way of life in the forest of Suriname. This video will also serve as an example of a people whose ydna of e1b1a and mtdna has never been interrupted by miscegenation with other groups around them even in the modern era.
